I’m Md. Nisar Uddin Adil, also known as Aadil Shaakir. From Bangladesh to Oslo, I bring academic inquiry and practical NGO experience together to understand how policy, climate, institutions, and inequality shape people’s health, dignity, and everyday lives.

01 · Research
My current academic direction grows from social policy, climate-sensitive health systems, human rights, governance, and inequality. I am developing work that joins careful analysis with the lived realities of communities and the decisions institutions make.
Current independent research
An ontology-informed project extending my master’s research. It is being shaped to examine how climate change is described in public discourse, how those narratives travel through media, and how policy documents recognise—or overlook—the same concerns.
A qualitative case study of 26 official policy documents using the WHO climate-resilient health-systems framework to examine policy alignment, vulnerable communities, international support, and implementation.
A case-based working paper exploring governance, sustainability, institutional coordination, and quality of life in smart-city development.
A sample quantitative investigation using STATA to explore possible relationships between social integration and young people’s mental health.
A research project on garment workers’ socioeconomic conditions, workplace security, labour relations, and the barriers shaping employment experience.
02 · Education
Study in Dhaka and Oslo has given me both a grounded understanding of social welfare and a comparative lens on policy, health, inequality, institutions, and research design.
OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University
Advanced study of international and comparative social policy, welfare institutions, health policy, inequality, and qualitative research design. The programme strengthened my interdisciplinary policy analysis and culminated in a document-based thesis on climate-sensitive health policy and SDG 13 in Bangladesh.

Graduate study in social welfare, public policy, social research, programme practice, and institutional responses to social problems. It deepened my analytical grounding in rights, development, labour, community wellbeing, and pathways to social change.

My experience is best understood as a connected practice: listening closely, organising evidence, supporting people and programmes, and helping institutions communicate and act with greater care across Norway and Bangladesh.
Built thoughtful relationships with supporters while contributing to fundraising, public communication, documentation, internal coordination, website work, events, and campaign delivery in an international medical-humanitarian environment.
Doctors Without Borders / MSF NorwayHelped advance restorative justice and rule-of-law work with linguistic minorities through mediation, referrals, community evidence, stakeholder coordination, and collaboration with community paralegals.

I am a Bangladeshi social policy researcher, human-rights and NGO professional, and writer based in Oslo. Educated at OsloMet and the University of Dhaka, I work across climate, health, human rights, governance, inequality, and the institutions that shape everyday life.
My research passion is to make policy analysis answerable to lived experience: to ask not only what institutions promise, but how those promises reach people facing vulnerability and exclusion. I bring together qualitative inquiry, monitoring and evaluation, programme coordination, public engagement, and clear, evidence-informed storytelling.
Writing, photography, and travel are part of the same habit of attention. Journeys through 26 countries across two continents have exposed me to different cultures, languages, public systems, and everyday rhythms without replacing the perspective I began with. Bangladesh remains the intellectual and emotional starting point of my work; Norway gives me a second vantage point from which to think comparatively about welfare, dignity, and collective responsibility.

Travel is less a tally than a way of listening—to cultures, languages, public systems, histories, and the ordinary details through which larger social questions become visible.
Images help me notice atmosphere, human detail, and quiet complexity: a creative practice connected to the same curiosity that drives my research.
